This Level 3 First Aid at Work course provides the training required to become a certified first aider in any workplace. It is a level 3 first aid training course that meets Health and Safety Executive (HSE) requirements, and is valid for 3 years. The level 3 first aid course covers the roles and responsibilities of first aiders, how to assess an emergency situation, and how to administer first aid to a variety of injuries and illnesses.

This level three first aid course combines practical skills training with theoretical knowledge. The practical assessment is ongoing throughout the course, with learners demonstrating the practical application of their skills. A 30-question multiple choice theory assessment covering both units of the course is also required. Learners must pass both the practical and theory components to receive their level 3 first aid certification.
Recertification is required every 3 years to maintain a valid first aid at work certificate.
There are two options available for recertification:
- Option 1: Complete a 12-hour recertification course over 2 days
- Option 2: For learners with recent experience as first aid tutors who meet all the requirements, an assessment-only recertification option is available
Learners interested in further training can pursue:
- Highfield Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (RQF)
- Highfield Level 3 Award in Emergency Care for First Responders (RQF)

The course also includes training on the safe use of adrenaline auto-injectors.
